International Friendship Day (8/7)

August 4, 2011

Hello 1800Baskets readers!

Congratulations to Shannon Baldus (posted at July 28, 2011 at 3:37 pm) and Anne M (posted at August 3, 2011 at 6:24 pm)! Please send your names and address to amariscal@1800flowers.com and I can send your gift baskets right away! Thank you to everyone who participated in our blog challenge even with our comment system acting a little wonky! Also thank you to everyone for participating in our Facebook Free Chocolate Dipped Strawberries for a year contest! We’re really glad that everyone enjoyed it, so keep letting us know how you feel on our Facebook page and invite your friends to join in the fun! It was a definite hit, so I’m sure we’ll be doing similar contests in the near-future. But for now, on with the show!

Is it safe to assume that since you’re all here reading this that I am among holiday-friendly people? People who just love holidays and know where their nearest Hallmark store is? I don’t know that I’ll ever hang up giant cardboard cut outs of eye balls or decorate glasses for National Eye Exam Month (yes that exists and yes it’s this month), but some instituted holidays I think should be celebrated to the fullest. International Friendship Day will be this Sunday, August 7, initially created by the greeting card industry but just recently declared by the General Assembly of the United Nation this April.

Good friends are there for you through thick and thin and even make you want to be a better friend. I still owe one of my oldest friends immensely for a lot of things, but mostly for being the only one available to help me move out of an old apartment last year, making multiple trips in his pick-up truck. Even friends you rarely get to see can be some of the best people you know. I’ll applaud any day that promotes letting those dearest to you know that you think they’re the cat’s pajamas! (Off topic: What does that phrase even really mean? Cats don’t wear pajamas, bees don’t have knees, and now I sound like a “Bailey School Kids” adventure novel).

Thank You Grandeur Gourmet Gift Basket $49.99; item code: 94913

I have a feeling I’ll need to load boxes into a truck in order to complete my appreciation, but I know some of our “Thank You” gift baskets and treats could be a good start. First up, we have the Thank You Grandeur Gourmet Gift Basket for $49.99. This gift basket is literally over brimming with gourmet goodies like Cheryl’s Chocolate Chip Cookies (this alone I think counts for 5 boxes in my favor), Butternut Crunch, Peanut Butter Barrels, pretzel braids, brie flavored cheese cup, Leonatti’s® Cracked Pepper Crackers, Milano’s® Smoky Mozzarella Mini Baguettes, and so much more. There is no way to misconstrue how you feel with one of these gift baskets.

Thank You Colossal Fortune Cookie $34.99; item code: 93890

One of our more fun gifts, I think, would be the Thank You Colossal Fortune Cookie for $34.99! Not a gift basket, but this super large (it takes two hands to hold) fortune cookie is hand-dipped in Belgian milk chocolate, decorated with colorful confetti, sugar smiley faces and thank you balloons. Even better, nestled inside the cookie is a large personalized fortune or message that you can write on your own. It’s a very fun yet caring gift that can be shared (that is if they don’t inhale it on sight).

Of course we always love hearing back from you, what do you all think about these gifts? Also, tell us in 1-2 paragraphs a story you have of your good friends! We’ll be giving away three of the Thank You Colossal Fortune Cookies next week!
