Deluxe French Country Gift Basket $79.99; product code: 96349

Is everyone settled in their cozy sweater with something warm to drink already? The days will start to get shorter, the air a bit more crisp, and soon you’ll find yourself daydreaming about anywhere that isn’t your house (unless you’re on the west coast or gulf, in which case, remember all of us while you wear shorts in the sun). I have about 10 different trips planned out in my head…and probably on an Excel file somewhere…all sorted into what features, monuments, or ruins I would visit in any given country, where I would stay, how long, and of course: food to try. Sure I put France on my list because obviously, France (Also I should probably put my minor and five years of language study to use). But mostly, I added it because of the food. Crepes, escargot, duck confit, all the pastries, bon bons, cheeses, wine…generally thought to be one of the culinary capitals of the world, I would be crazy to not want to go. If you’re in a Francophone mood yourself, I can’t really help you with your airfare, but I can point you towards our Deluxe French Country Gift Basket full of international treats straight from the motherland! Delivered in a lace-lined real willow basket, this gift basket will surely make you feel like you’re having a picnic on the country side of Provence, France.

Cucina Rustica Gift Basket $89.99-$119.99; product code: 93384

Italy would be just as great for historical ruins and food; there’s a reason you can find any variation of an Italian restaurant on any block. I love linguine with sea food, I love fettuccini alfredo, I love bread and olive oil, I would eat tiramisu every day of my life if I could, cannolis, bruschetta, and pizza…oh my pizza (is it wrong that I want to make an edible gift basket made entirely out of pizza and then put a container with tiramisu inside because obviously those things can’t touch?). I also happen to have a Classics degree, so I guess I could look smart in front of a bunch of people talking about frescos and columns (just someone please look for me when I end up carboloading on pasta and taking a nap somewhere in the Colosseum). So if you’re in the mood for some fine Italian cuisine, the Cucina Rustica Gift Basket is perfect for a romantic dinner or if you want to impress someone with your culinary skills.

I probably won’t make it to either anytime soon, but I can at least bring part of the food aspect home with our gourmet gift baskets and enjoy an international selection while I watch my DVD of Roman Holiday. For all of you, let me know in the comments section (1-2 paragraphs as always), what country would you like to visit and why? I’ll select FOUR lucky and random winners next week who will get to choose either the Deluxe French Country Gift Basket or the Cucina Rustica Gift Basket! Happy travel thoughts gift basket readers!
